Ayad is an Iraqi-born British writer working across theatre, radio, podcasting and television drama. His BBC Radio 4 Afternoon Drama FOLLOW THE MONEY, exploring the making of the film All the President’s Men, will be broadcast in April 2026. He is the co-creator and sole writer of the six-part audio drama-documentary series THE FIGHT OF THE CENTURY: ALI v FRAZIER for BBC Sounds/BBC Radio 5 Live, which won Best Sports Show at the 2022 ARIAS and multiple New York Festivals Radio Awards, as well as Bronze at the British Podcast Awards. Ayad was selected for the BBC TV Pilot 2022 Scheme (formerly the BBC TV Drama Writers’ Programme), where he developed an original television drama with Dancing Ledge Productions, and was mentored by Neil Forsyth (The Gold, Guilt). He is also an alumnus of BBC Writersroom Drama Room and was shortlisted for the Channel 4 Screenwriting Course. Ayad’s first full-length play, TERP, was a winning finalist in the Theatre 503 International Playwriting Prize, and he has gone on to have success in a number of competitions, including being chosen as one of the New Blood Class of 2022 at the FrightFest horror film festival. His TV pilot script THE INTERPRETER has recently been nominated for the Watersprite Writing for TV awards. Other writing credits include the audio drama MALORY TOWERS: SPORTS DAY for CBBC. Alongside his own writing, Ayad is a reader for major UK playwriting prizes, including Theatre 503’s International Playwriting Prize and the Papatango Playwriting Prize.
