Samia is a London-born screenwriter of Saudi/Welsh heritage who has been selected in recent years for both the WFTV Four Nations Mentoring Scheme and the BBC Writersroom London Voices group. Her writing and performing often explore her complex heritage, mining to darkly comic effect autobiographical material including her childhood kidnap by her father and membership of a cult. She has been mentored by comedy producer Gareth Edwards, with whom she has also developed scripts; and recent work has been optioned by Fulwell 73, Vox Pictures and Noho Film & TV. Samia also performs stand-up, and is taking her latest one-woman show – KIDNAP – to Edinburgh this summer, supported by the BBC Comedy Collective and Funny Women.
