Matthew Hurt

Matthew is an award-winning screenwriter, playwright and short story writer. He has written numerous episodes of EASTENDERS for BBC One. His short film HELLO MUSCLES has won several awards including Best UK Short at the Manchester Film Festival and an audience award and honourable mention for Best Live Action Short at the Cleveland International Film Festival. His plays have been produced across the UK and internationally. Matthew’s last play, THE MAN JESUS, was nominated for an Irish Times Best New Play award. His short story A MAN IN HALF was placed second in the Costa Short Story Awards. His most recent story A RESURRECTION IN SOAP is to be published in The Plaza Prizes Anthology 2 later this year. He has also written two plays for BBC Radio 4 and is the writer and co-creator of the web series UNPACKING. Matthew is currently developing a contemporary drama series with Jed Mercurio’s HTM Television. He also has several feature length screenplays commissioned both in the U.K. and U.S., where he is represented by Range Media Partners.
