David Semple

David has written for the last seven series of BBC1 hit show FATHER BROWN, as well as writing for the first two series of daytime detective drama SHAKESPEARE AND HATHAWAY. He has also written for BBC1’s CASUALTY and been a core member of the BBC’s DOCTORS writing team, now with over 70 episodes to his name. Previously, David wrote three series of AGATHA RAISIN for Radio 4, with Penelope Keith starring as the eponymous detective. In addition to writing the first episode of children’s TV series BARON BEASTLY for Meerkat, and dramatising folk tales for R4′s children’s strand GO 4 IT, David has also written songs for shows including THE NEWS HUDDLINES and sketches for shows such as BBC Scotland’s WATSON’S WIND-UP. His play ARE YOU BEING MURDERED? was recently performed at the Edinburgh Festival and his feature screenplay TROOPERS is under option with Silver Buckle Films. David is currently developing an original series for the US with Reel One Entertainment.
